Sexing regular plants comes down to reading preflowers at the nodes, usually around the fourth to sixth week from seed. Males show small round pollen sacs on a little stalk, while females put out a teardrop calyx with a pair of white hairs. A cheap jeweler's loupe makes the whole job much easier.
