Major service came up sooner than expected, is this normal?

My Compass is due for a major service according to the schedule but it feels like I only just had one done, and the mileage gap seems smaller than I expected. I'm wondering whether the intervals are shorter on these than I assumed or if the garage last time just did a minor job and called it a major. I'm near Khalifa City so I've been looking into Quick Jeep minor service and major service in Khalifa City, but I want to understand what actually determines when a major is due before I book. Is it strictly mileage, or does time between services matter too? And is there a way to check what was actually done last time, or do you just have to trust the stamp in the book?
